Doug Walcher Farms has been producing top quality vegetables under the D.R. Walcher brand since 1986. They grow, pack, and ship fresh, green bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and yellow squash from July through October. In late August they also begin shipping a full line of fall ornamentals, which include miniature gourds, orange and white mini-pumpkins, and ornamental corn and winter squashes.
Farm Facts
There are many Bell Pepper varieties grown all over the US. Pepper plants can yield 3 to 5 peppers per plant per picking. There are a variety of ways to harvest them, but the most common tends to be an old fashion basket and hard work.
The device pictured above is put into the soil near the root system of a given plant to monitor the moisture levels, by doing this we can determine the exact amount of water needed so we don't use to much or too little.
This allows us to use less water over a greater area minimizing environmental impact.
Foliar fertilizer is quickly becoming a thing of the past, the picture above is a photo of a drip irrigation injection system.
By fertilizing and applying chemicals in this fashion we are able to affect only the area desired.
